Denmark, Greenland Take Dispute To US Congress As Lawmakers Move To Block Trump Greenland Move

Denmark and Greenland have taken the Greenland controversy to the US Congress amid renewed pressure from President Donald Trump. Danish and Greenlandic leaders are lobbying US senators in Washington, DC, as lawmakers move legislation to block any US takeover of Greenland. The proposed bill would prohibit the use of US Defense or State Department funds to take control of Greenland or any NATO member’s territory without consent from NATO allies. The issue was discussed during meetings involving Denmark’s Foreign Minister, Greenland’s Foreign Minister, and Denmark’s Ambassador, hosted by a US senator from Maine.
