On the exact 100th anniversary of the publication date of “The Great Gatsby,” the Library of Congress is producing a full reading of the novel, livestreamed from our Thomas Jefferson building on Capitol Hill. Be an old sport and join us in-person or online to experience this classic American novel which entered the public domain in 2021.
Scribner, which used to be known as Charles Scribner’s Sons when the house published “The Great Gatsby,” is one of eight American publishers found on the Library’s ceiling above the Great Hall.
Please note that “The Great Gatsby” was written 100 years ago and reflects the social attitudes, language, and perspectives of its time. Some content may not align with contemporary values or thinking. We encourage viewers to engage with the material thoughtfully and within its historical context.
