So Special mode is basically a boss rush. I never touched it in Raiden Fighters 2 since I didn't see much of a point there, but for Jet in particular, it's the only mode where you can (sort of) play through every stage, and since I'm not really interested in recording an ALL1 or ALL2 of the game I figured I'd do this.
The Ixion is another one of the best ships in the game with good speed and a strong laser weapon, especially when pointblanking where it's even stronger than Judge Spear. The missiles however are nowhere near as good and practically never worth using.
Oddly enough, the difficulty starts slightly lower than it does on Normal mode (the attack at 1:45 lasts slightly longer on Normal for instance) until it seemingly balances out. This mode is fairly stingy with bombs so I go for a fairy in level 20 and do some timeouts (really, the second phase of the level 10 boss is surprisingly hard considering how early it is).
Also damn Level 50 boss is some hot garbage lol
