The Ameritron AL-82 isn’t a toy. Two 3-500Zs driven by a hipersil transformer, a full-wave bridge rectifier and a turbine blower pushing air through glass chimneys — all hand-built in Starkville, Mississippi with real American engineering and quality components. At 3.5 kV on the plate, the 3-500Zs deliver the full 1500 watts key-down and 2 kW PEP if you really need it. It’s built for one thing: “REAL POWER.”
No menus. No firmware. No excuses.
While LDMOS black boxes overheat and beg for updates, this beast pounds out clean legal-limit RF through real tubes. And decades later, it’s still running strong while so many “next-gen” amps are already in the scrap heap.
Think amps should be “lightweight” or “locked behind software”? This video will offend you. Good. Say it in the comments — REAL HAMS will be here to set you straight.
👉 Real Tubes. Real Power. Real Radio.
