The San People Documentary is a series of videos that covers the beliefs, traditions, gender roles, norms of the San people, in this case the Naro tribe.
Historical Review:
The Nharo are a Khoe- (‘Hottentot-’) speaking hunting and gathering people of the central-western Kalahari. They are linguistically closely related to the G/wikhwe and G//anakhwe of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and others found in the Central Kalahari and Okavango Bushman peoples of Botswana know for their spiritual and medical knowledge.
They were traditionally semi nomadic, moving seasonally within certain defined areas based on the availability of resources such as water, game animals and edible plants.
Role of Women Within The Tribe:
Women are greatly respected. they make important family and group decisions and claim ownership of water holes and foraging areas. They are mainly involved in the gathering of food, teaching daughters their way of life, teaching them to gather food, make jewellery and to cook.
