DCS - Simplest Mod making part 1. How to put models into DCS - (READ DESCRIPTION)

After so much positive feedback, I thought I'd show the simplest way to add a 3d model into dcs as there really isn't much on the subject available and the stuff that does can seem really daunting! Anyone can do this!
Thanks again to Fireblaze for his excellent videos on mod making that taught me a bunch of what I now know, and also huge thanks to Grajo for his informative video on how to export models into DCS. Links to both channels will be included.

So step one would be obviously getting blender if you don't have it already. I am using version 2.82 and highly recommend it!

The next step would be to find the 3d model you would like to add into DCS. I found this free sort of simple B2 Model that isn't too Difficult or daunting for anyone who is a serios beginner yet isn't too simple. Download link is at https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/north...

After downloading, just put them in a folder to keep organized and unzip from the zip files both source and texture.

Then in Blender you import the model. as it's an OBJ file, you would scroll to import and then click the OBJ option and then find the model where you saved it before opening.

The texture part i did with the glass is completely optional, I only did that to make it look better by adding the glass. I did this by clicking on edit on the model and then selecting and seperating the window area as well as adding the textures to the actual model.

Once you are happy with the scale of your model as well as any details or such, it is almost ready to export! First you will need to add an armature which will add the point that dcs would know to attach the model to. You do this by selecting the "add" tab in object mode and then selecting Armature. once this is done, Select all parts and parent them to your armature by ctrl+p and then Bone relative (the video i mentioned earlier on the dcs user page i linked better explains this).

After that you need to select the edm subsection after clicking on the model in settings and then selecting render and then select solid or glass as needed. If you have any textures you wish to add, you must put in the exact name of the texture in the section and once everything is selected to render, you are ready to export!

So here you go to the export option, See edm export (that you had installed at the start) at the bottom and select. Choose where you wish to save and if everything is done well, it should export without a hitch! if there are any issies, they will pop up and state what the eact issues are so just pay attention!

I chose to add this model to the vsn eurofigter mod as i had it quickly to hand but you could practically add it to anything!
I HIGHLY recommend making a copy of your mod folder before doing this though as if anything does go wrong, you have the original still there!
Just go to shapes on the module you wish to add it to and find the main aircraft shape edm and copy and paste the name onto your file that you've just created. Then put the new file into the shapes folder and overwrite. You now have your model in DCS!
