Here is a quick snippet taken during the "145 Alive" event on 14/01/23. Totally un-edited, and thankfully no swearing by me (that I know of, let me know in the comments if something slipped through)! :-) The radio in the video is a Retevis RT95 (also known as the Anytone AT-778UV amongst other names) set at 10w output power (max allowed for foundation licensees like myself), and it feeds a tiny little whip-and-magmount antenna (Diamond MR-73SJ) on the roof of my car. Honestly, I am super amazed that I could be heard so far and wide.
You can hear how Tim (G5TM) is working his magic driving the 145.325 MHz portion of the day's net from West Sussex, absolutely magic. I was perched on the edge of the North Downs, half way between Warlingham and Oxted in North-East Surrey. I had a few QSO's prior to this (all logged in qrz.com, thanks to all), but was caught by surprise by Paul (G6PFC) which caused quite a panic! Sorry Paul! :-)
Update:
If you are interested in purchasing the Retevis RT95 (I paid £129.99 for it on Amazon), consider buying the Anytone AT-778UV instead since it's a lot cheaper (except on Amazon, where it's more expensive than the Retevis). At the time of writing this, Martin Lynch has it on sale at £99.96 which is a bargain. Grab it while stocks lasts! :-) Bottom line - shop around and skip Amazon unless you need the radio urgently.
