After multiple postponements, the federal government has finally scheduled the inaugural meeting of the 11th National Finance Commission (NFC) for Dec 4, aiming to establish the framework for technical, financial and legal deliberations on horizontal and vertical resource sharing among the Centre and provinces.
Presided over by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the meeting will discuss the strategy for the new NFC award, the formation of thematic sub-groups, and brief presentations by the provinces and the finance ministry on their fiscal positions before finalising a schedule for subsequent sessions.
