Located in the pretty Scottish Borders, The abbey was founded in 1136 by David I. Most of the Abbey ruins which remain today from the 14th century and are widely considered an excellent example of Medieval church architecture in the United Kingdom.
The heart of Robert the Bruce was buried here and the church's exterior is decorated with fascinating and unusual sculpture such as the famous bagpipe playing pig.
