Here's a step-by-step video for creating silver hoop earrings with lovely aqua green and blue kyanite faceted drops placed on triangular dangles, decorated with rustic texture and fine silver granules.
Get inspired to create your own variation of these artisan earrings!

***Remember that your safety is the most precious jewel! 💎🛠️: • If you decide to make your jewellery, always wear safety glasses and a mask when working with torches and rotary tools to protect your eyes and respiratory system.
• Work in a well-ventilated area to minimize exposure to fumes from soldering and polishing.
• Keep a fire extinguisher or a bucket of water nearby in case of accidents.***

Materials Needed:
• Sterling Silver sheet (here 0.8 mm), scraps or pieces of the Fine Silver wire for decorative balls, silver wire 0.8 or 0.9 for bail, hoops or other previously made ear-wires
• Gemstones, here aqua green and vivid blue Kyanite
• Bezel gallery wire in a size that is adequate for gemstone height.
• Silver solder (preferably hard, medium and soft, for various stages of soldering)
• Soldering flux, pickle solution, quenching bowl with water
• Metal stamp with the chosen texture or other texturing tool, like the ball head hammer, stone with an interesting texture, steel nail with profiled ending, tip of a small hammer – if you do not have stamps at hand, make a stamping tool of your own 🛠️, steel block
• Torch for soldering, and soldering block, third hand, tweezers and/or similar, soldering pick
• Jeweller’s saw
• File(s), (or sandpaper stick of various grits to smoothen sharp edges of the cut silver plate)
• Polishing tools and bits for rotary tool, like silicone discs, brushes, buffing wheel
• Patina solution (liver of sulphur), steel wool 0000, jewellery polishing cloth.
• SAFETY EQUIPMENT – ALWAYS wear protective glasses while making jewellery. Also use mask, especially when polishing, so as not to inhale the particles.

Step 1: Design and Draw the Shapes
• Anneal the gallery wire bezel strip and form it to match perfectly the shape of your gemstone [00:00:09]
• Sketch the design for the earrings, here: triangular dangle back plate. [00:00:14], I’m using a template for easy and even geometrical shape.
• Once the design is transferred onto the silver sheet (0.8 mm), carefully cut out the shapes using a jeweller’s saw [00:00:18]. Smooth the edges with file or sandpaper stick.
Step 2: Texture the Silver Sheet
• Use a metal stamp, or any other tool of your choice that will allow you to create an interesting texture, and create a pattern on the surface of the silver sheet. [00:00:23] For best results, anneal the silver first.
• Place the sheet on a sturdy surface (steel block, for example) and hammer the stamp onto the metal to create the desired texture.
Step 3: Make Fine Silver Granules [00:00:30]
Use Fine Silver pieces, wire or scrap metal in even quantities to create decorative granules. It’s just to melt the silver, as it will naturally shape into lovely, smooth end even balls. You may want to just polish flat the bottom of each sphere to make it ‘stick’ and solder better on the back plate in the next step.
Step 4: Solder the Bezels
• Once your bezel gallery strip is adequately formed to fit tightly the gemstone, file the endings so that they match perfectly and provide best connection for better soldering.
Flux the joints and solder them using hard solder. [00:00:42] Be careful with heat! Gallery wires melt easily as they are of filigree texture. Remember to heat all bezel evenly and use soldering pick to transfer the solder once the bezel is hot. Remove the flame as soon as you see the solder melting and all metal glowing in red colour.
It’s easier to use various types of solder if your projects require soldering of various elements one by one, so here go for hard solder here, which has the highest melting temperature and so will make next stages of soldering less stressful 😉
Quench and pickle.
