Recorded from the southern tier region of New York state in the mid 60 using
an unknown receiver large enough to part of the furniture. In fact it was till my grand parents purchased a TV. The radio not only covered the AM broadcast band but shortwave as well as illustrated by the BBC audio at the end. Another interesting oddity was hearing police calls from Cincinnati on this radio at night. Back then police dispatches were using what is now the expanded broadcast band from 1600 to 1700 KC AM mode for limited communication. The one air check that was not recorded from New York state is of WLCY recorded from Homestead, Florida. I hope this video makes it to youtube what with all the music copyright infringements expected. I guess they think someone will record 3 seconds of music so they can sell it.
