U.S. President Donald Trump defended his recent tweets relating to a conspiracy theory involving TV host Joe Scarborough and a former aide who died at his office during Scarborough's time in Congress.
The body of Lori Kaye Klausutis, 28, was found in Scarborough's Fort Walton Beach, Fla, congressional office on July 20, 2001.
Trump said on Tuesday that the death was "very suspicious" and should be looked into, despite the widow of Klausutis writing a letter to Twitter asking for his tweets to be removed, calling them "horrifying lies."
Trump has long feuded with Scarborough, now a host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" show, and has repeatedly tried to implicate him in the death. Police did not press any charges against Scarborough over the death.
Klausutis suffered from an undiagnosed heart condition and died after collapsing at work and hitting her head on her desk. Her death has been ruled an accident.
