Even after the Israeli government approved the ceasefire deal, its forces bombed Gaza before pulling back from parts of the enclave on Friday. The first phase of the agreement includes Tel Aviv stopping its attacks and the exchange of captives and prisoners with Hamas. Türkiye has been one of the key players in negotiations for the deal proposed by the US president. So, with the ceasefire now in effect, is the conflict finally nearing an end, and what is to become of post-conflict Gaza?
The recent Gaza talks in Paris aimed to address these issues. Türkiye's top diplomat Hakan Fidan was present at the meeting, where Arab and European ministers discussed security, governance and reconstruction of the battered enclave. Trump's call for an international stabilisation force was also a major topic of discussion at the summit. While the US announced it's sending 200 troops to Israel to monitor the deal, Turkish President Erdogan said Ankara also plans to take part in a task force overseeing the ceasefire in Gaza. But will such a mechanism be able to stop Israeli aggression in Gaza for good?
