1977 Lancia Beta Berlina S2 1300

Lancia Beta signified a new beginning for Lancia under Gianni Agnelli's supervision and Fiat S.p.A. support. It was introduced in November of 1972 and featured a technology that combined Fiat and Lancia engineering principles. The engine was a Fiat derived DOHC engine mounted transversely and in-line with the Fiat 5 speed gearbox according to Fiat's practices of the era. Furthermore the engine was tilted rearwards by 20 degrees rearward to lower the center of gravity and promote weight transfer to the front wheels according to Lancia practices. The driving thril was enriched further via the use of disc brakes, independent suspension all around and Lancia's trademark multink anti-rolling rear suspension configuration. In 1974 the Berlina Series 1 version was introduced in Turin featuring Fiat's 828B3 twin cam 1300 cc engine and remained in production till 1975 when Series 2 was unveiled.
The Beta Berlina Series offered here was produced in 1977 in Bianco-Saratoga over Nero and dispatched to its first owner in Athens, Greece. Unlike most Berlinas in the market, this has been preserved over 46 years to a total of 44048 km. It currently presents with uncompromised originality throughout and in a fully maintained cosmetic and mechanical state.
