About this Video:
We travelled to Lahore by air. Araf and Ayan are first time traveling by air and first time visiting Lahore in July 2022.
We spend time in Lahore and also visited Famous Lahore Fort.
The Lahore Fort or the Shahi Qila is in the walled City of Lahore in Punjab Pakistan. The Lahore Fort is located at the northern end of the Walled City of Lahore and spreads over an area greater than 20 Hectares arround 49 Acres.
Lahore Fort contains 21 monuments, some of which date to the era of Emperor Akbar.
The Lahore Fort was almost entirely rebuilt in the 17th century during the time when the Mughal Empire was at the height of its power.
The foundations of the modern Lahore Fort date to 1566 during the reign of Mughal Emperor Akbar.
Additions from the Emperor Shah Jahan period are characterized by luxurious marble with Persian floral designs.
History of Lahore Fort:
The first historical reference to the Lahore Fort at the site is from the 11th century during the rule of Mahmood of Ghazni.
The Lahore Fort was initially made of mud and was destroyed in 1241 by the Mongols Empire during their invasion of Lahore.
A new Fort was constructed again in 1267 at the site by Sultan Balban of the Mamluk dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate.
But the rebuilt Fort was also destroyed in 1398 by the invading forces of Emperor Timur.
This Fort was rebuilt again by Mubarak Shah Sayyid in 1421.
In the 1430 , this Fort was occupied by Shaikh Ali of Kabul.
Later on it remained under the control of the Lodi dynasty until Lahore was captured by the Mughal Emperor Babur in 1526.
Makatib Khana:
(Clerks Quarters) (was built in1654)
The Maktab Khana is a small cloistered court immediately adjacent to the Moti Masjid.
The word Maktab Khana is a corruption of the word makatib khana, or Clerk's Room. This was a place where clerks (muharirs) recorded entry into the Lahore Fort.
It is a Persian styled compound with pointed-arch arcades and deep iwans at the center of each of the four sides.
Moreover, an inscription found above the main entrance records that it was actually built under the supervision of "Mamur Khan" in 1617 to 1618 and identified this site as the "Daulat Khana-e-Jahangiri" means the "Residence of the Emperor Jahangir".
It is therefore likely that the "Maktab Khana" is a surviving fragment of a much larger mansion complex serving the Royal Emperors.
Dewan-e-Aam:
The Diwan-i-Khas (دیوانِ خاص, or "The Hall of Private Audiences") is located in the Lahore Fort in Lahore, Pakistan.
It served as the place where the Mughal emperors received courtiers and state guests.
This Place of "forty pillars" is a unique feature of the Lahore fort and was a specific place where the king held public hearings.
The special feature of Deewan e Aam is the "marble jharoka" or the "throne gallery" projecting from its rear wall and there the emperor would sit with his royal protocols to hear the problems and grievances of the public as well as other state matters.
