Why Nonviolence Is Perfection | Gospel Nonviolence 101

Here's a bold assertion: Nonviolence is not just an ideal; it's the state of perfection.

Evidence of this is found in God's creation and redemption.

Consider nonviolence as the original and ultimate design for all creation.

God created the world without violence.

When creation was perfect, creation was nonviolent.

When the Garden of Eden was perfect, Eden was nonviolent.

When Adam was perfect, Adam was nonviolent.

In the perfection of Eden, Adam lived in peace marked by nonviolence with all creation.

The ideal state of human perfection was a world devoid of violence.

We know Jesus is perfect, and He is nonviolent.

Jesus, in His perfection, embodies nonviolent love of friends and enemies.

The New Jerusalem is perfect, and is nonviolent.

The vision of the New Jerusalem in Revelation is of a perfect, harmonious city without pain, suffering, or violence.

Therefore, we can know that since God is obviously perfect, He is also nonviolent.

Using the lens of Christ, we can see that violence does not look like God.
