SUNOVA X FOIL DRIVE | Review & Comparison

This video is two in one: A in depth review of the new SUNOVA FOIL DRIVE board and a wider approach to what makes a good Foil Drive board in general. With more than 70 sessions and over 100 hours of pure ride time on many different boards I have learned a far bit about what works and what does not work.

I started my Foil Drive career on my wing foil board. The good thing about Foil Drive is, that it will work with most boards, but some are just a little more efficient. I then dropped down in size and volume by using my prone foil board. It took a few sessions to adjust but it felt like I was on the right track. I than got a new board, smaller in length and volume just do discover that this comes with a few limitations. Most of this I could compensate by stepping up my skill level, but a few things are still physics that can not be overruled.

For a better understanding of how the Foil Drive Gen2 works on different board it threw it on any board I could get my hands on. I tried the Sabfoil Torpede, the Duotone Downwinder SLS, the Ride Engine Escape Pod, the Slingshot WingCraft V1 & V2, the Slingshot FlowCraft, the Duotone Skybrid and a few AXIS boards in different sizes.

After testing the 4'8'' SUNOVA FOIL DRIVE board for a longer period of time I could find all the good characteristics I found in the different boards combined in just one board. Like you would imagine the SUNOVA pairs perfectly fine with the FOIL DRIVE GEN2 and the larger volume allowed me to drop down in front wing, give me more paddle strength and a significant boost in run time. Love the board and wish I could keep it.
