Do you have an itch you just can't scratch?
You may be suffering from chronic kidney disease-associated pruritus (CKD-aP). CKD-aP is often a distressing and overlooked condition found primarily in individuals with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), such as those on hemodialysis. It too often goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed by healthcare providers. This HealthLine webinar speakers will discuss how CKD-ap is assessed and measured, why it is often misdiagnosed, what does it look like, and treatment options. You will also hear from two AAKP Ambassadors who will share their experience with the condition.
Moderator:
-Jerome Bailey, AAKP Director of Patient Engagement and Advocacy
Speakers:
-Angelo Karaboyas, PhD, Epidemiologist and Biostatistician Arbor Research Collaborative for Health
-Fiona McKinney, AAKP Ambassador, In-center Hemodialysis Patient
-Nidhi Sukul, MD, Clinical Assistant Professor, Nephrology, University of Michigan
-Christine Hernandez, AAKP Ambassador, Home Hemodialysis Patient
As the oldest and largest, independent kidney patient organization in the U.S. – AAKP is dedicated to improving the lives and long-term outcomes of kidney patients through education, advocacy, patient engagement, and the fostering of patient communities. AAKP fights for early disease detection and the appropriate diagnosis of rare/genetic conditions; increased kidney transplantation and pre-emptive transplantation; full patient choice of either in-center or home dialysis; protection of the patient/physician relationship; promotion of research and innovation including artificial implantable and wearable kidneys; and the elimination of barriers for patient access to available treatment options.
