History was made this morning on the Sanger West High School campus as they had their first student, Steven Sanchez Barrera to accept a full ride academic scholarship to an Ivy League School and an athlete, Mia Arriola, to accept a full ride NCAA Scholarship. Steven will be attending Columbia University, where he will major in Medical Humanities with a Public Health Concentration. Mia will be attending Cal State East Bay to play softball and she plans on majoring in Business Management. “I am so proud of Steven and Mia for these amazing accomplishments. It’s a first for Sanger West to have a student accepted to an Ivy League and an NCAA scholarship! These students represent what it means to Protect the Hive, Respect the Swarm, and Be Elite!’” said Sanger West Principal Ryan Osier. Introductions by Guidance Instructional Specialist Solidad Benavidez and Athletic Director Daniel Banuelos. Here are a few scenes from the signing.
