Internationally acclaimed Greek saxophonist, composer, and academic researcher Dimitrios Vassilakis presents for the Nublu Jazz Festival in New York, a selection of blues and ballads from his award-winning Candid Records discography, including new material, featuring son Nestor on tenor sax. Tunes he has recorded and played live with world-class international jazz musicians like:
Jeff “Tain” Watts, Essiet Essiet, Sylvia Cuenca, Ralph Peterson, Marc Johnson, Benito Gonzales, Theo Hill, Dave Kikoski, Abdullah Ibrahim, Theodossi Spassov, Espen Berg, Adam Nussbaum.
An ongoing project to showcase the energy and impact of the blues and the emotional power of the ballads.
