Russian Army Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov reported to President Vladimir Putin on the latest progress of the Russian military along the front line. In December alone, Russian forces liberated over 700 square kilometers and 32 settlements, marking the highest monthly advance of the year. In 2025, a total of 6,640 square kilometers and 334 settlements were brought under Russian control. Gerasimov highlighted that enemy forces remain largely defensive, relying on counterattacks and drones, while Northern and Western troop groups continue to expand security lines and dismantle enemy formations. Engineering units, with support from allied forces, focused on demining key areas in the Kursk region.
