What is the purpose of Mines Act 1952?
The Mines Act, 1952 contains provisions for measures relating to the health, safety and welfare of workers in the coal, metalliferous and oil mines.  The Act prescribes the duties of the owner to manage mines and mining operation and the health and safety in mines.

What Is Mine Act?
The Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977 (Public Law 95-164), commonly known as the Mine Act, is the legislation that currently governs MSHA's activities. Mining fatalities dropped sharply under the Mine Act.
