Sorry about the throat.
One correction already, production was Arkansas not Arizona, big place the states.
What’s good about this all American hero (apart from the German barrel)? The single stroke pneumatic power source that delivers very consistent power. The long lever to compress the air works even without compounding links because is not trying to be a power house. The layout that means you get a long very good quality barrel. It’s made in America.
The other bits, the trigger, is adjustable for weight and the sights are click adjustable, but both of these by the standards of the competition would not really cut it for the time if you compared them to say a FWB 80.
The rear sight particularly is a bit of a half way house, Don Nygord, who kicked this of with his modified 717, went with a millet rear sight, which would give a better sight picture than the unit Daisy fitted with the moving centre section.
Then there’s the grip, as supplied it’s too big to fit in an ISSF size box and it’s big, not so much side to side, but front to back, and there’s not a lot to be done about it. Does this come from a difference in approaches to target shooting, with the European style being one handed duelling style while the American is more two handed for practical control of the pistol?
But, it is undeniably accurate, and if you can put in the practice it can deliver, just don’t expect it to help all that much.
That said, would I part with mine? No chance, the simplicity of it, including the ease of working on it and the ease of loading means I just keep coming back to it.
