Smoky Mountain Scenes

It has been a while ago that we did a nature short film for our self, couple weeks ago we packed up all the video gear… the car was a little overloaded our almost 14 year old Jack Russell all packed and ready to go. After 562 miles 81/2 hours we arrived at our destination Franklin North Carolina in the Smoky Mountains. It was the first time for us to see the Smoky Mountains but will definitely not be the last time… so beautiful…we were a couple weeks too early for the best leaves changing but still it was amazingly how that the leaves where already changed in only the 2 weeks we were there. I think every season has his beauty in the Smokies. We woke up every morning and couldn’t see 2 feet so packed in fog but everyday was different sometimes it cleared up in only 30 minutes but other days it took couple hours we had a great view from our cabin and witnessed the sea of smoke clear up so nice every day LOVED IT. Hiking in the Smoky Mountains felt great with all the equipment carrying was sometimes a big job but the pictures are so worth it the temperature was excellent (compared to Florida if you have to walk a mile in the heat with all equipment it is another story).Our first waterfall was Dry Falls near Highlands NC very nice waterfall the feeling we had when we first saw it was the start of a beautiful vacation felt so content of being able to catch all that beauty on camera… that’s our breathing space we inhaled as much as we could. The result of it will be online very soon it will be an all around short film with of course the famous smoke, mountain views, waterfalls it will have time lapses etc… We had hoped to see an elk or a bear but we have learned we were not in the right spot that they are most spotted at Cataloochee so it will be a good reason to come back next year. We did have two super cool cows that were the prefect actors in our short we could easily make another short especially for them if we wanted to.


One day we drove out of North Carolina into Georgia to visit the Tallulah Gorge State Park it was only an hour drive and it was stunning we were able to get a permit to go on the gorge floor that was really cool some climbing over rocks in the water it was a great adventure the Kessler Cineslider was perfect and easy to set up on the different rocks but with the equipment it was at one point to tricky to hop over so we had to make a u turn but we both said we will go back there one day without the equipment just a GOpro probable and then we will do the whole gorge floor. Anyway we were rewarded with some of the best footage of the vacation.




Equipment we have used is the Sony PMW-F3, Sony PMW-EX1, Canon 40D, Nikon lenses, Kessler motorized Cine Slider etc….
