The coziest family casserole: tender diced potatoes, a silky beef layer in a light tomato-cream sauce, and a two-cheese topping that melts and bubbles to golden perfection. Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender; drain. In a skillet, sauté onion to golden, add ground beef and cook, stirring, then fold in garlic, 1 tbsp tomato paste, and 200 ml cream for a velvety, savory sauce. Season with salt and black pepper.
Grease a baking dish. Bottom layer: potatoes (lightly press). Middle: saucy beef. Top: a mix of cheddar (flavor) and mozzarella (stretch). Bake at 180°C / 355°F for 20–25 minutes until the cheese is melted and lightly browned. Rest 5 minutes, finish with parsley, slice, and serve. A spoon of sour cream on the side makes it even richer.
