In Today's video we're going to be taking a close look at the new High Grade Gundam Burn Lapius model Kit.
This kit is the latest from the G-Unit or 'The Last Outpost' side story manga. This manga had a run back in the 90's and is a side story that takes place at the same time as Gundam Wing. For many USA fans, Gundam Wing was their first exposure to the Gundam franchise. Being a USA fan myself I really enjoy seeing more expansion to the lore of Gundam Wing and I really like a lot of these G-Unit designs.
Gundam Burn Lapius is the upgraded version of Gundam Aesculapius, which itself is an upgraded version of Gundam Geminass 02 after it's been defeated in battle by Oz Prize, a special forces group of Oz soldiers who are intent on taking over a space colony where the Gundam Geminass testing was being performed.
This kit is very wide and unique, it also has a transformation gimmick which allows the Gundam to transform into something similar to a Hy-Gogg which we saw in 0080 War in the Pocket. The kit is molded in a nice ocean teal blue color, and a seafoam green type of color, these blue's mixed with the yellow come together to make a really nice color scheme.
The design looks like it's been created for a royal knight which fits the characters as the Oz Prize special forces ace pilots see themselves as knights.
This kit was obtained through USA Premium Bandai, because this kit is a premium bandai model kit this is NOT available on store shelves, and may be considered a little difficult to find from time to time. If you have Premium Bandai in your area, it's best to check and see if it's still available on the site or check with a japanese proxy service to see if this kit is able to be found. If it's too expensive to find through a proxy, there is sure to be a reprint eventually, patience is key with these Premium Bandai kits.
Being that this is P-bandai there is a lot of disdain that kit's like this get released on P-bandai. This design is really niche and reuses a lot of molding from the Geminass Gundam kits, I'm not surprised this ended up on P-bandai and while it's a little annoying that it's an exclusive item, I'm just glad that this kit even exists at all.
Sadly this kit does have some issue's that plague's it and a lot of that has to do with the parts involved here as a lot of it is repurposed from the Geminass kit and those joints / parts don't really work well on a kit this wide, and heavy. You'll definitely want to pay attention to the review to see what I'm talking about and how to go about fixing these issues. It's a really cool design and a neat kit, it just needs a little TLC to be perfect.
This kit was built with:
Godhand ultimate nipper
Tamiya JX2 straight blade nipper
Godhand precision hand brush
Tamiya red acrylic paint (only for the head cap vent)

about 387257 cotton buds for cleanup
