Curator and Art Historian Lilia Kudelia leads a conversation on Lorena Lohr's 'Desert Nudes'.
Lilia Kudelia is a curator and art historian. Her projects are often rooted in archival research and examine productive encounters between experimental artistic practices, technology, and artists’ engagement with conventions of memory. Kudelia currently works with archival collections and teaches contemporary art at the Department of Art and History at the University of Texas at Arlington. Over the years, she has also held curatorial positions at Dallas Contemporary in TX, Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, the National Museum Complex Art Arsenal in Kyiv, Ukraine, and Residency Unlimited in New York. In 2017, Kudelia co-curated Ukrainian National Pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale represented by photographer Boris Mikhailov. Her recent curated exhibitions featured artists who respond to political conflicts and warfare in different parts of the world, including Lesia Khomenko: Image and Presence at the Ukrainian Museum, NY, Avert Your Eyes at Peck Slip, NY, and No Grey Zones at Voloshyn Gallery, Miami. Kudelia holds an MA in art history from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University, a BA in Cultural Studies from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Ukraine and was a visiting scholar at the University of Toronto, Canada.
