The Bridge: Kendric Curtis Balloon Release

Two young men were recently killed in Aliquippa.
Kendric Curtis was shot by an ATF officer on Sept. 18.
Gevod Tyson was shot Oct. 14 — details have yet to be released.

The Bridge aspires to be a space where people feel hopeful and seen and not alone; where we become active together and dismantle the harmful things we’ve historically said about ourselves, our neighbors, and our communities.

We’re an unconventional journalistic medium; one that leans into being with our neighbors rather than primarily reporting on incidents and events.

Many in our towns are grappling with the heaviness of violence, systems that are broken, and a national rhetoric that promotes closed fists rather than open hands. During this time, can those of us on the sidelines allow ourselves to be moved and motivated by the pain of our community, and to seek community wholeness by seeing one another as neighbors rather than strangers?

In this video, loved ones of Kendric Curtis honored and mourned his life and death during a balloon release the day before his funeral.
