EPF to enforce mandatory contributions for foreign workers this month

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will make contributions mandatory for non-Malaysian employees starting with October 2025 wages.

Both employers and workers must contribute two per cent of monthly pay, covering all foreign employees with valid passports and work passes except domestic helpers.

EPF says the move strengthens social protection by giving all workers access to retirement savings.

Employers must ensure registration, while eligible foreign workers will be automatically enrolled, with thumbprint verification required from January 2026.
