The greatest knight ever held a bridge alone against 200 enemies
An expert in wrestling, weightlifting & plyometric training, he entered combat tournaments across Europe - and never lost.
In 1503, he held a narrow bridge with a sword and shield against 200 mercenaries so his men could escape.
Four years after he was impaled by a lance through the leg battle - yet he ignored the wound and personally led them to victory.
Later, he was captured in battle but was so respected that the enemy immediately recognized and released him.
At age 51 he met his death when he was shot in the back with an arquebus.
When his men tried to move him, he said:
“Do not turn me, I have never turned my back on the enemy.”
He died upright, sword in hand, facing the enemy.
His death marked the end of the knightly age.
They called him the Chevalier de Bayard…
But his name was Pierre Terrail.
