Proud to have videos in excess of what may be one of the best batches of buses in the more modern history of London bus, we have a MEC more commonly known during it's time for having a loud ZF Gearbox! With the least sound blockage possible this video features all the Ecomat noises you can think of thanks to the preceding design of straight-cut gears! From start to finish... each gear plays it's own note (besides 4th gear being the quietest due to 1:1 ratio) with the usage of normal kickdown as well as throttle pumping, presenting some nice redlines as you're introduced to at the beginning. The ZF gearbox alongside this workhorse of an engine, mixes grunt with elegance and gives me more of a reason to favour Citaros as one of the best buses. I'm sure I've explained it all before but of course the 6-Speed ZF Gearbox on this makes it not so hard for a double-downshift to occur, so expect a lot of gear shuffling and downshifts! Another 1up for the Germans! 🇩🇪
