ITANAGAR, December 11–12, 2025:
Arunachal Pradesh Indigenous Youth Organisation (APIYO), along with the Indigenous Youth Force of Arunachal (IYFA) and the All Naharlagun Youth Organization (ANYO), has submitted a joint memorandum to the Chief Secretary demanding immediate action against what they describe as illegal construction and operation of mosques, madrasas, and panja khanas in the twin capital cities of Itanagar–Naharlagun.
Carrying the slogan “Save Land, Save Culture”, the memorandum also raises concerns over alleged illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and the growing number of unregulated weekly markets in and around the capital region.
The organisations have placed four major demands before the state government:
1. Cancellation of allegedly illegal construction of Jama Masjids/madrasas within the twin capital.
2. Identification and removal of “illegal Bangladeshi immigrants” reportedly residing in the capital region.
3. Official recognition of only two Jama Masjids as legally established in the Itanagar–Naharlagun area.
4. Immediate ban on weekly markets operating in the capital and nearby locations including Doimukh and Hollongi.
