Mauterndorf is a small town in Salzburgerland, Austria. It is located in the centre of the Salzburg Lungau region as a part of the main chain of the Alpine area. The town has approximately 1,600 citizens and a impressive 11th century Mauterndorf Castle. The Castle was in possession of the Prince-Archbishops but nowadays it is runned by the government as a touristic object.
