This 4th of July, we skipped the fireworks and headed north — way north — to explore one of Michigan’s most legendary and remote destinations: the Mouth of the Two Hearted River.

In Part 1 of this 2-part journey, we take our truck camper deep into the Upper Peninsula backroads, setting up camp in wild country, cooking over open flame, and soaking in the freedom only solitude can bring.
