Hi everyone! I'm back with my first upload from Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. I am only halfway through so please try not to spoil me too hard in the comments! I'm currently stuck on Messmer but I'll get him one of these days. I am a bit slow when I play these games lol.

So far I've really enjoyed my time with the game, and the boss fights especially have left a huge impression on me. These are absolutely some of the most amazing fights I've ever experienced (both gameplay-wise and cinematically), and Rellana is probably my favorite so far. Her or Bayle. I probably did about 150-200 tries on her before taking her down and it really felt like learning the moves to a maddening and complex dance. So satisfying to finally take her down! This song got totally burned into my brain during that time from hearing it so much.

At first (before searching it up) I thought it might have been Yuka Kitamura since she also did Rennala's theme and this track has a similar somber feel, but after listening to it a few times I knew it had to be someone else. Although it has a variety of similarities to her work, something about the writing and melody structure just didn't feel Kitamura-esque. However, I think Tai Tomisawa did a wonderful job capturing the Carian Royalty vibe for this song and I really appreciate the amount of rhythmic energy it brings. It is especially unforgettable when phase 2 kicks in with the high choir as Rellana shoots those fast and heavy-hitting moon-colored projectiles at you during the phase transition. And don't even get me started on that one-tap basketball dribble attack she has in phase 2 happening while the violins are shredding! (I loved it of course).

Overall I'd rate this DLC very highly and I think the visual artists really cooked with places like Cerulean Coast/Charo's Hidden Grave and more. Just gorgeous. And the lore tidbits have been fascinating and I can't wait to find out what will happen. I will certainly be tackling more piano pieces from it in the future! That new Mausoleum mini boss theme is amazing... and I REALLY liked Putrescent Knight's theme too. This DLC is totally blowing me away.
