Chicago O'Hare Airport ORD 1968-'69 Super 8 Kodachrome film

This is some original Super 8 film footage taken from the public observation deck at Chicago O'Hare airport. It was located atop the E-F concourse, which was part of the original terminal infrastructure. Based on date stamps on some 35mm slides I also took, the movie appears to have been shot in a three month time period time period beginning in December of 1968.

Video conversion, editing and sound effects were done in 2025

Errors found:
It was brought to my attention that the cockpit still at the very end was from a DC-8, not a Boeing 707. And at 2:35, that's a Vickers Viscount 700 (shorter than the 800 series, with round entry doors).

About Super 8
The camera I used was a Vivitar TL-4.
-Kodak discontinued Kodachrome film in 2005. All other Super 8 filmstocks were discontinued in 2012, In 2018 Kodak resumed producton of Ektachrome 100-D. Current available Super 8 film stock now includes Kodak Ektachrome and Kodak Vision 3 film
-Super 8 camera production by major manufacturers like Kodak largely ended in the early 1980s due to the rise of video cameras. The first super 8 cameras with sound came out after 1972, before this it was a silent format

The outdoor deck at O’Hare is no longer open. Also, we used to be able to pull off onto the shoulder on Irving Park Rd. to watch, but they won't let you do that anymore.
