Empress Zelyra of Xylar Prime, desperate to save her world from a corporate takeover, wagers her entire planet on a human "beastmaster" named Brett Kaiden. The task: tame a Krak'thar predator, "Tank," that has gone violently mad.

With the planet secured and Varek executed, Brett returns the sovereign authority to Zelyra, choosing partnership and love over solo conquest. The human warlord and the alien Empress begin their reign, their pack complete.
