Enjoy this breath-taking bike ride on the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park as we ride up to The Loop.

Date of ride: June 18, 2021

Distance in the video: approximately 7 miles.

Bike route: We arrived at 5:45am at the Avalanche parking area and were lucky to get a space! We then took Going-to-the-Sun Road to "The Loop" where it was closed beyond that to cyclers and hikers. LUCKILY we came back when the road was open all the way to Logans Pass. Be sure to watch our next video showing the entire ride up to the pass!

Going-to-the-Sun Road closes in winter due to snow conditions. As they start clearing the road, they open sections of it to cyclers and hikers. The first three weeks of June is an ideal time to ride the Sun Road- free of traffic. After the road opens to cars, bicyclists can still ride the road as long as they are off the road between 11am and 4pm. Due to the narrow conditions of the road with steep drop-offs, we don't recommend it.
