Blaze Weednix - Latino Redux (Sega Genesis Original)

Remix of Latino, a Famicom song I wrote about 8 years ago. The goal was to learn Furnace Tracker and also make the song feel more alive. I always found the original too static but really liked the melody, so I felt it deserved a remake. I think I did a good job, tell me what you think.

I stopped making music in 2016 because I didn't enjoy it anymore. Recently I've had an itch to make a song, I went through the stuff I uploaded in this channel, relived some of the good memories, and eventually listened to Latino. I didn't remember how most of the song went after so many years, and I found it hard to believe that I made it. Same for Peaceful Mood, but that one already has a (mediocre) FM version.

I found out the FamiTracker website died for good, talked to dpc about it, then I found out from our conversation that Furnace Tracker is a thing. I downloaded it, messed around, then decided I wanted to try making a cover so I could learn to work with it. Latino seemed like the perfect choice since I thought it'd sound nice on an FM sound chip.

This took a bit less than a month to finish. I spent 2 weeks on and off working on laying down the notes, then the rest of the time polishing. Big thanks to dpc for providing constructive feedback, the song wouldn't have been the same without his input.

Furnace is deceivingly simple if you already know FamiTracker, so if you're like me and you've been on the fence about doing Sega Genesis music for years, this is your perfect chance. It supports a ton of chips and comes with some preset instruments too. It has some quirks and much room for improvement, but it's really good as it is regardless.

I don't promise any new future content, but who knows, now that I've jumped back into the pool I might make some new things. I'd like to write a new song for sure. Only time will tell.
