A Rola-do-mar é também chamada de Vira-pedras pelo facto agilmente revoltar as pedras na procura de alimento, estes exemplares remexem as algas habilmente de modo a expor os pequenos invertebrados que ali se abrigavam. Pelo meio uma ave toma banho para depois recomeçar a intensa actividade. É uma ave cosmopolita estando presente nos litorais de quase todo o mundo. Em Portugal é invernante ou migradora de passagem mas pode ser observada ao longo de praticamente todo o ano.

The Ruddy Turnstone quickly revolts the stones in search of food, but these specimens saw the algae skilfully in order to expose the small invertebrates that sheltered there. It is a cosmopolitan bird being present on the coastlines of almost all the world. In Portugal it is a wintering or migrating bird in passing but it can be observed throughout almost the whole year.
