Klimatosūkis Bird Watching 2022

On the first weekend of October Young Ambassadors of "Klimatosūkis" ("Game on") and birdwatching enthusiasts gathered at Nemunas Delta and Curronian lagoon - the main migratory way for birds.

Close to 100 different bird species were spotted during the two-day long birdwatching trip and various stories of newcomer birds and the ones who are slowly leaving Lithuanian territories were told by amazing tour guide, ornithologist Marius Karlonas.

He always emphasize that birds are the most obvious proof of climate change, because they can fly away for a few hundred kilometers if it gets too hot or too cold. And tropical species (such as white heron) in Lithuania proves his words.

Birdwatchers also visited the bird ringing station at Ventės Ragas, where ornithologist Vytautas Jusys is one at the top list of people in the world by the number of birds ringed. He does this from the early morning to a late night and allowed the group to set a few birds free by themselves.

The event was organized by project "Klimatosūkis" ("Game on" in Lithuania by Lietuvos Gamtos Fondas) and ornithology guiding tours agency Ornitostogos.
