With hunting season here, I figured I'd share my thoughts on the Kershaw LoneRock RBK 2, a smart skinning knife with a replaceable blade system.

The RBK 2 is an upgrade over the original LoneRock RBK and the key difference is a safety that makes removing the replaceable surgical steel blades safe and easy. Just push on the safety and pull the blade out. I show how that works in the video, but it couldn't be simpler.

This package comes with a total of 15 blades, but you can buy additional packs from Kershaw.

The handle is glass-filled nylon with a rubber overlay and it sits comfortably and securely in the hand. This is a folding knife and you open it up with one of the two thumbstuds. It locks into place with a liner lock system, so it will never close when you don't want it to.

A bonus feature on this knife is the Buddy handle. If your hunting partner forgets to pack a knife (or packs a dull one) you can simply add one of your replacement blades onto the Buddy handle and now you have two knives ready to work.

Closed, the knife measures 4.4 inches and open it stretches out to 7.2 inches. Each blade is 2.8 inches long and 0.019 inches thick. The knife tips the scales at an incredible 1.4 ounces.
