Halter Neck Layered Belted Baby Frock Cutting and Stitching | DIY Very Easy Baby Frock For Beginners

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my channel. Today, I’m going to show you how to make a beautiful halter neck layered belted baby frock. This project is perfect for beginners, so let’s get started!

Materials Needed

• 1.5 meters of cotton fabric
• Matching thread
• Scissors
• Measuring tape
• Pins
• Sewing machine
• Iron
• Tailor’s chalk

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Preparing the Fabric

1. Measure and Cut the Fabric:
• Measure the length of the frock from the baby’s shoulder to the desired length.
• Cut two rectangles for the bodice and one larger piece for the skirt. The bodice pieces should be the chest circumference plus 2 inches for seam allowance, and the skirt piece should be double the chest circumference for a full, layered look.

Step 2: Making the Bodice

2. Cut the Bodice:
• Fold the fabric in half and cut out the bodice pieces, ensuring symmetry.
• Cut the halter neck straps about 2 inches wide and 12 inches long.
3. Sew the Bodice:
• Place the two bodice pieces right sides together and sew the side seams.
• Hem the top edge of the bodice by folding it over twice and stitching.
• Attach the halter straps to the top corners of the bodice.

Step 3: Creating the Skirt

4. Cut the Skirt:
• Fold the skirt fabric in half and cut out two layers, each with the desired length plus 2 inches for hemming.
5. Sew the Layers:
• Hem the bottom edge of both layers.
• Sew a gathering stitch along the top edge of each layer and gather to fit the width of the bodice.

Step 4: Attaching the Skirt to the Bodice

6. Join the Skirt and Bodice:
• Pin the gathered skirt to the bottom edge of the bodice, right sides together, and sew.

Step 5: Adding the Belt

7. Create and Attach the Belt:
• Cut a strip of fabric for the belt, about 3 inches wide and long enough to wrap around the waist and tie a bow.
• Fold the strip in half lengthwise, sew the edges, turn it right side out, and press.
• Attach the belt at the waist seam, securing it at the back with a few stitches.

Step 6: Final Touches

8. Finishing Up:
• Iron the frock to remove any wrinkles.
• Add any desired embellishments, like buttons or bows.
