The Coolest (And Strangest) Apartment In Skopje, North Macedonia

Skopje, North Macedonia in early 2021 wasn't a travel destination that I expected to find the strangest apartment I've ever stayed in. Although, after being inside for a few days I realized this is probably the coolest apartment in all of Skopje, North Macedonia. In this video I take you on a tour of this awesome apartment, which can't even begin to show you all the creative aspects in this place.

A little backstory:

The apartment, called Dali Apartments, was the passion project of an architect heavily influenced by the organic style of Gaudi and the whimsical surrealism of Dali. Ever square centimeter of this apartment was meticulously thought out and crafted.

So is this an apartment or a hotel? Well, the owner actually owns the top three floors of the building with three apartments for rent. The one I stayed in comprises the top two floors, while two other apartments share the floor below. I like to think of it as a mix between a boutique hotel and an AirBnB style rental.

Of course, the showpiece is the almost two meter high chandelier in the middle of the living room which, while weird, is super cool to see.

The apartment is on two levels, with the first housing the kitchen, living room, grand dining table, and bathroom. There are also two balconies. The second floor (up the hand carved spiral staircase) has a working area, bedroom, bathroom, and access to another balcony overlooking a gold domed orthodox church and bell tower.

Strangely this apartment only cost us $42 a night. It's possible that was because we came in winter and it is low season prices, but that was the coolest thing about this Skopje apartment in my opinion.
