In todays leatherwork video I will answer one of the most commonly asked question - Just how far apart should I space my holes on my leather strap?
The spacing of holes in leatherworking is ultimately a matter of personal preference; however, as a leatherworker trained in traditional techniques, I employ a straightforward approach that relies on the width of the leather strap for hole placement. I also use this same width to work out where to cut the end off for a perfect point. Go and check that video out as well.
My initial technique involves utilising a ruler to accurately space and centre the holes along the strap.
For my second method, I use a pair of dividers to achieve the same effect, ensuring precise spacing and centring.
And finally, for my least method, I have a specially designed tool that was designed, and 3D printed by a friend, @atingeofginge. This innovative tool not only facilitates the spacing of the holes but also ensures they are perfectly centred on the strap, proving to be an excellent time-saving solution.
