Amtrak's Auto Train in 2024!

Amtrak's Auto Train in action around Northern Virginia, throughout 2024. Known as the longest passenger train in North America, the Auto Train runs daily between Sanford, Florida and Lorton, Virginia. With a typical consist consisting of at least a dozen Superliner cars, and at least two-dozen autorack rail cars, the Auto Train is not your typical looking Amtrak long distance train.

As of late 2024, the Auto Train has been slowly making the switch from the ol' reliable GE P40DC locomotives, to the new Siemens ALC-42 locomotives. Two clips represent the changing of the guard, including the first ever ALC-42 leader on Auto Train in mid-June, and a pre performance test run on train 52. Also managed to see AMTK 835 leading in several clips, with a killer horn!
