Sam Newman is a former Australian rules footballer who is also well-known for his media career and controversial persona. He was born on December 22, 1945, in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. Newman played as a ruckman/forward for the Geelong Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) from 1964 to 1980, amassing 300 games and scoring 400 goals during his career.
