As I visit historic houses across the UK, it fascinates me how each generation adapts and reimagines the style of the architecture and interiors, according to the fashions and tastes of the day. When I was in Yorkshire, I visited the most beautiful Georgian country house – Constable Burton Hall which has been home to the Wyvill family since the sixteenth century. The hall was once an Elizabethan house, but it was remodelled in the Georgian style in 1768.
Now, D’Arcy and Imogen Wyvill have updated the interiors – to combine comfortable family life with Georgian splendour. And out on the estate, they are following their dreams, with exciting redevelopment plans for over 50 lodges from where it’s possible to explore the stunning Yorkshire Dales.
