One of Hornsby Shire’s natural gems, Blue Gum High Forest, is critically endangered, with only 5% of the forest remaining.
To help protect this vital ecosystem, Hornsby Shire Council is encouraging the community to visit, love and protect Blue Gum High Forest, before it’s too late.
One of the greatest ways to help protect the forest is to become a Bushcare volunteer. It is a fantastic chance to get out in the fresh air and help restore and learn about Blue Gum High Forest. Get a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie while socialising with like-minded people in our community.
There are 65 (and growing) Bushcare groups throughout Hornsby Shire, with weekly or monthly, and weekday or weekend schedules available. Groups specifically volunteering in Blue Gum High Forest are held in Beecroft, Cherrybrook, Hornsby, Normanhurst, Wahroonga and West Pennant Hills.
