This is the first part of a lecture given as part of the Introduction to MEMS Course. It discusses some of the history of how units and weights and measures have evolved over time. This presentation is presented by the Southwest Center for Microsystems Education (SCME). Supporting materials can be downloaded from the SCME website (http://scme-nm.org). The SCME is an NSF funded ATE Center.
